More great news for Chester County as CCPC's Multimodal Transportation Planning Director, Brian Styche, shared that the county received nearly $5 million through the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' 2024 Community Conservation Partnerships Program, or C2P2!
The C2P2 funding supports 10 projects in Chester County including three county initiatives — $75,000 towards an Open Space Accelerator Program to develop open space implementation plans for municipalities; $393,000 towards the Boot Road Trailhead acquisition for the Chester Valley Trail; and $500,000 towards the Downingtown Trestle Rehab Design on the Chester Valley Trail.
Other projects include $50,000 to the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance for the installation of 6 acres of meadows and 3 acres of riparian forest buffers; $1 million to East Whiteland Township for a new community park; $212,000 to Honey Brook Township for the rehab of James A. Umble Memorial Park; $350,000 to Spring City Borough for further development of their Boat Launch Park; $350,000 to Upper Uwchlan Township for the rehab and development of Hickory Park; $1,050,000 to West Whiteland Township for further development of Exton Park; and $1 million to Willistown Conservation Trust for a new nature preserve.
Overall, the program funded $79.4 million to 307 projects statewide. See the full list.
This news comes shortly after Chester County was awarded nearly $13 million towards 47 projects through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's Local Share Account, and $20 million to Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's Municipal Bridge Retro-reimbursement Program — both supporting a variety of projects throughout the county.
It's going to be an exciting year ahead for Chester County!
